Pulse Motor (555 Timer Circuit) 006

The Circuit is finished but will not deliver the Current I need. I think thats what it is, any ideas anyone?

try puting a resistor in there to stop any currune going backwards into it, that might solve the problem

    Hi digitalbroadcaster

Thanks for the info, I will move back to these circuits, but I used the bedini method on later videos instead. I will look into the CMOS 4017 because I have a couple, I think I need an opto coupler to do this and not not blow the CMOS. the VF66? do you have specs on it?

I though of using the Ts555 with a schmitt trigger to get duty cycle of 50%.

    Any ideas?

If you just want to …
If you just want to drive the stepper motor, you could either use a stepper driver chip, or a 4017 IC using each stage to drive (via a VF66 transistor) each phase of the motor. This would only give you one direction though. I don’t even know what you are building, but you could be introducing emf into the timer circuit. Have you fitted a back-emf protection diode to the relay by the way? If the motor is a standard non-stepper, then emf could still be the problem. Use separate power to motor.

  16. Ooberpoonage says:

    why use a timer …
why use a timer when you can use the shaft of the motor you will build? It can handle GOBS more current than a chip.20-200 or so milliamps is all you will get with the best 555 on its best day.Instead of building a complex (for most tinkerers)circuit, make it mechanical as much as possible.A battery and 160 degrees of a conductive shaft are sufficient for your switching needs.A reed switch will work too ,but’s no comparison to switching with a big chunk of spinning metal.Take it from an old fool
