yes i used a tuner i didnt estimate, that guitar i had at the time was a washburn d100, like a 200 dollar guitar that i was using over a year ago, that is probably why the tone is not satisfactory to some people simple as that, as far as it being in drop d tuning yes i used a tuner right b4 that video was recorded, thanks for the constructive criticism.

Hi JoshuaGagle, I’ve just listened to it again and am a bit confused. There is a part of the chorus that sounds too high but the rest of it sounds right, so i assume that the tuning is correct and take back my comments, but something is wrong in the chorus, you know the bit where you use the open two strings and then slide the bar on the 4th to 5th fret. Something sounds too high and the bass run does not come through, i think thats probably why everyone is talking about the tuning!

This is true relating to what key, but in this key, using the chords he is playing, if the tuning were standard tuning the open top string is E not D as it should be. So yes it doesnt matter what tuning but if you wish the bass note to be the D below the normal bass E how can you get this note with standard tuning?

Hi JoshuaGagle, It sounds like you are a bit upset from the comments about the Drop D tuning. I am 42 and have just listened without reading the posts and thought its not in drop D tuning. I realise that you understand the principle of drop D from reading your comments. Did you use a tuner for the D or estimate it? If you listen you will agree. If you disagree, post again but play each string first and then the track, if it still sounds wrong its us thats wrong. Good though apart from that!

To the four 15 year old kids who have said my guitar was not in drop D.. you might all want to go take a guitar lesson before you parade around youtube commenting on stuff like you actually know something, my guitar was in drop D… Drop D tuning is when you tune your top E string to a D string so that essentially your guitar is tuning to DADGBe.
