Is Stephen Harper going to stay in power for a while?

I’m Canadian and I have to say that Stephen Harper is Canada’s little bush and I don’t like his doing, specially sending kids to fight america’s war. I hope he doesn’t get to stay in power because his party and people with his points of view weren’t the ones that made Canada the kick ass nation that it is today. I wanna see the pulse around here, how my fellow Canadians feel about bush… I mean harper.
trevorgl : I’m not comparing Canadians with americans, Canadians are way farther in the road and way better than americans who are stock with their christian fundamentalist theocracy. That’s why I’m so afraid of, a prime minister that likes the american model too much, that doesn’t want free health care, a clean enviorment and an equal society. You probably like him because his cutting taxes but you should stop bitchin about taxes (that BTW are necessary). Do you think you pay a lot of taxes? Check out countries like colombia, the DO pay a lot of taxes for EVERYTHING even if food and unlike us Canadians they don’t get in exchange a nice country to live but rather a decadent violent society. And I didn’t point a particular party for Canada’s success, all I said was that necons have been against most of the reforms that have our great nation where it is. Read carefully, you are starting to sound like a redneck.

I see you are buying into the Liberal Party line already and Harper has done nothing but continue the previous government’s commitment to Afghanistan(as part of the UN). Lets see, what did the Liberals do… Mulroney went before the Canadian people calling for a free trade agreement, in that agreement, a hidden manufacturer’s tax was eliminated so Mulroney introduced the GST to replace it. And he did those things after being re-elected.The Liberals were elected after Mulroney was investigated over mispending and the Liberals promised to get out of the free trade deal, scrap the GST. Which of course, they never did. Paul Martin , as finance Minister, cut eligibilty to Unemployment benefits so soon the E.I. had a budget surplus, combine that suplus with increased revenues from the Free Trade deal and GST, and VOILA, budget surpluses. Began by Mulroney, used by Cretien and then Martin. You seem to have convieniently forgotten all the Liberal mis-spending, scandals. What has Harper done, continued our UN commitment, recognized Quebec as a separate nation within Canada, about time. So far no scandals. Boy, I for one , sure miss the lies from the Liberal Party, won’t be long now, soon as Dion gets comfortable, the Liberal machine will start the campaign promises again and people like you will buy into it again. Harper is no Bush. Do you see our troops in Iraq? Softwood deal has been done, country hasn’t collapsed. Comparing Harper to Bush only shows your true Liberal colors. Canadians didn’t buy into the fear or doom and gloom the Liberals said would happen and so far, Harper has stood his ground and delivered on things he promised to. AND IT WAS THE LIBERALS THAT SENT OUR BOYS TO AFGHANISTAN. At least get your facts straight.

I don’t agree with Harper most of the time ‘but who are you to say who built this nation -it wasn’t a political party! It was hard working -well meaning Canadians .People who all ways compare us to the states have done nothing to build this nation all they do is stereo type all Canadians as American wanna be’s which I don’t believe we are. How is it that Harper is A little Bush? Do you honestly think he or any other Prime Minister does what the president of an other country wants ?

I hope that Stephen Harper stays a while as the Prime Minister of the Dominion of Canada because the Liberal Party of Canada did not help Canada in the decade that they were in power.
