intensive care sleep EKG and SpO2 monitoring

i finally got a monitor that has an SpO2 (pulse oximetry) module as well… so you can not only see my EKG, but also my respiratory frequency AND oxygen saturation! =)

i also got a NIBP (non-invasive blood pressure) module, but it’ll be about two weeks until i have the fitting adapter for it. then i will be able to monitor EKG, RESP, SpO2, NIBP. yay! \o/

    depends, a couple …
depends, a couple hundred euros (200 – 2000, depends if used / new, good deal / bad deal, etc.). just the spo2 sensor was more expensive than my monitor, as the sensor was new, unlike the monitor…

yeah, i want an EEG …
yeah, i want an EEG, too! but that seems extremely hard to get.

well, if i hypnotize myself somehow, this could work (if i figured out how); i’m just saying that nobody else could hypnotize me, i think, as even the attempt would be counteracted by me not wanting to “lose control” – same as i dont sleep when in a room with other people (unless intoxicated).

    However you are …
However you are correct about some people being hard to hypnotize, if you fight it, it wont work.

Some people are more suseptable to it than others.

    Damn thats a shame, …
thats a shame, id expect it would be similar rates to sleep, i think brainwave patterns are very similar during sleep/hypnosis.

LOL, i can tell you have never been hypnotized too, you dont loose control over your mind as such you are still consciously aware and can pull yourself out of trance if you want, its hard to describe.

Its just a state of really deep relaxation, it is very similar to what is achieved with drugs but is obviously psychosomatic, kind of scary what the mind can do.

    i dont think that’d …
i dont think that’d work on me; i heard some people cannot be hypnotized, and i think i am one of them. i do not like being sedated / losing control over my mind; that’s why i never use premedication before surgerys, and thats why i observed my own cardiac catheterization without any systemic drugs (no painkillers, no sedatives, nothing).
also, even as a kid, i wouldnt sleep when other people were around, e.g. when i was being told a story at night. so yeah, i think hypnosis wouldnt work on me.

    Hey, BN, you should …
Hey, BN, you should do one of these under hypnosis, id be interested seeing how it compares.

The medication ones were interesting, this is something i know nothing about, so these videos are very educational.

    Thanks.

I LOVE this stuff. I am a medical nerd too. I have a severe terminal ilness. I have been around medical equipment all my life. I LOVE ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT BEEPING. I still don’t have a pulse ox though. The Drs. don’t think I need one, but with my deteriorating health, and my medical nerdiness out of control, I AM DESPERATE FOR A PULSE OX. LUCKY YOU!!

    i didnt …

    thanks! =)
i didnt have much of a problem sleeping with all the electrodes / wires… but i got quite annoyed by the R-beep, especially as it was quite irregular (i dont have a problem with a ticking clock, for example, as that’s regular)… so that’s why the sound is quite low – so i’d not hear the R beeps when i am wearing ear protection plugs. sorry about that, but i couldnt get to sleep otherwise!

    Very cool! How did …
Very cool! How did you manage to sleep with all the electrodes? I’ve never seen the EKG of someone sleeping before, very interesting. And by the way, why is the sound so low? I really had to turn up the volume, but else great video!
