Is it the TV or the remote?
I have an older model JVC TV AV27BX4. Out of the blue, a couple of the remote buttons started doing something totally different then what they’re supposed to do. The rest of the buttons function normally.
My question is: Are the remote buttons malfunctioning or is it the sensor in the tv the buttons are accessing the problem? In other words, is it the remote or the TV?
Please someone with professional technical experience answer this. Thanks in advance…

**Someone else answered this question with the following:
It’s normally the TV’s MICRO that misinterprets the digital pulse train from the remote….
The IR receiver is nothing more than an IR amplifier so it can’t convert the signal…it just amplifies.

This really didn’t answer my question. Is the problem in the remote or the TV. If it is the TV, it is fixable?
I think (iam sure) the problem is in remote (sorry my english is bad)
Try using a cheap universal remote and see if those buttons work or not. It’s a 50/50 shot as to which it is. Remote is cheaper than taking it to a repair shop.
