i’m only 17 and im really concerned about my health right now. my blood pressure this year has been pretty high and beginning of summer it has been 172/108. my fasting blood sugar is 103, dont know if thats bad? i weigh 132and am 5’10" so i’m not overweight or anything. i have been getting frequent small headaches and sometimes get very lightheaded out of nowhere. i have had three fainting spells this year from low blood sugar. my apical pulse is over 100, highest it’s ever been was 110. my pulse is almost always in the 90′s actually been over 100 before. i’m not stressed.. we just got out of school. i don’t know what this is. it’s really scaring me and mom won’t take me to the doctor cause she thinks its just stress. before i had very bad eating habits, but right now i’m going on a diet. i am eating very heathly and absolutely no junk food or sugar. i am eating frequent small meals throughout the day to maintain my blood sugar. i have no way of getting to the doctor. its worrying me
i have asked my mom three times to take me to the doctor b/c of this and she wouldn’t then i just asked if she would take me for a regular check up cause i havent had one if over a year.. maybe even 2.. but she won’t. i don’t have a car or anything so i can’t drive myself. trust me i would go the doctor right now if i could get down there.
look to see if there are any free clinics around and ask a friend or friend’s mom to take you. If you look on webmd.com they have doctors that you can ask questions. I would do that and if all else fails make your mom listen.

Kid, ur young… ur 17 ok. thats no big deal. once ur like 25 its bad. Just do what u do normally
try to stay out of junk food and high sugar/fat foods as well.
u dont wanna get clogged up.

you sound like you are hypertensive. this would explain the headaches and dizzy spells. your mother does need to bring you to a doctor. being so young and hypertensive (high blood pressure) there could be something serious going on.

i would just go to the doctor if i was you, this sounds like its something that isnt just a one time problem, go to the doctor to see whats really going on.
thats all i can say.
im 17 myself. that sounds pretty scary.

well i think you should really try to go to a doctor. you could go to like a clinic or something because since you are so young you shouldn’t be having these health problems

With that description, you need to see the doctor ASAP and with symtoms like this, why ca’t you get to the doctor? Transportation is NOTHING compared to your life. I pray that you have told ur parents.

I have low blood pressure and fainting spells because of it too …. it sucks and the doctors wont put me on meds coz they said its for the elderly … i was told maybe up the salt intake but whats right for me is not whats right for you… I would see a doctor as u are pretty worried about it. Also stop stressing because that would be contributing to the light headedness.

From experience
You mom is wrong. You need to see a doctor for your blood pressure. High blood pressure can lead to a stroke, even in someone as young as you.
When you take your blood pressure make sure you do so after you have been resting for a few minutes. Cut out the salt in your diet, or at least cut down. Read the ingredients of your food to make sure that it has little or no sodium.
Talk to your mom. If money is a problem, there are many doctors in almost every town in the country who has a fee based on a sliding scale. Ask about the sliding scale when you make the appointment. Even a full priced doctors visit is cheaper than hospital costs after having a stroke.
take care, I hope you get this thing worked out.
Peace

in my opinion,i’d ask momma if she would take me to the Doctor and tell her you’ve been having fainting spells at school and your worried about them.stay away from junk food, keep doing the dieting thing..try exercising 3 x"s a week and eat moderate small meals throughout the day…you might be hyperglycemia, low blood sugar levels, that would explain your fainting spells…but maybe type 2 diabetes…its common in childhood,And can be controlled with dieting, like your doing..
