  • concerned about my health?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under apical pulse | 10 Comments »

i’m only 17 and im really concerned about my health right now. my blood pressure this year has been pretty high and beginning of summer it has been 172/108. my fasting blood sugar is 103, dont know if thats bad? i weigh 132and am 5′10" so i’m not overweight or anything. i have been getting frequent small headaches and sometimes get very lightheaded out of nowhere. i have had three fainting spells this year from low blood sugar. my apical pulse is over 100, highest it’s ever been was 110. my pulse is almost always in the 90’s actually been over 100 before. i’m not stressed.. we just got out of school. i don’t know what this is. it’s really scaring me and mom won’t take me to the doctor cause she thinks its just stress. before i had very bad eating habits, but right now i’m going on a diet. i am eating very heathly and absolutely no junk food or sugar. i am eating frequent small meals throughout the day to maintain my blood sugar. i have no way of getting to the doctor. its worrying me
i have asked my mom three times to take me to the doctor b/c of this and she wouldn’t then i just asked if she would take me for a regular check up cause i havent had one if over a year.. maybe even 2.. but she won’t. i don’t have a car or anything so i can’t drive myself. trust me i would go the doctor right now if i could get down there.

look to see if there are any free clinics around and ask a friend or friend’s mom to take you. If you look on webmd.com they have doctors that you can ask questions. I would do that and if all else fails make your mom listen.

is this a good system? is a good box?

Whats the effect of excercise on blood pressure? pulse ? and peripheral resistance?

Whats the effect of excercise on blood pressure? pulse ? and peripheral resistance?

The actual effect of exercising increases your pulse the eliptical machines take your pulse and give you the healthy range for your age and weight (mine is like 150’s to burn calories). Your blood pressure also slightly increases to the response of your burning energy and the peripheral resistance would possibly depend on if you go running outside and it is cold the resistance would be high and then as you warm up and sweat the peripheral resistance would dialate and decrease and may have the same affect on your blood pressure slightly.

Overall it will improve your general health due to the positive affects of lowering your heart rate and Blood pressure after exercising.

What Power and Energy does this represent ?

A pulse of Electricity measures 305Volts, 0.15Ampere and lasts for 500 micro-seconds. What Power and Energy does this represent ?

    power=voltagexcurrent
    =305×0.15

    energy=powerxtime

I am pregnant, and my heart skips beats and my pulse also goes very fast. Is this dangerous for the baby?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under heart pulse | 3 Comments »

I am only about 6 weeks pregnant, my pulse always seems to be going quite fast. Recently my heart has been skipping a lot and makes me feel sick and dizzy. I dont drink coffee at all so I know its not that. Should I be worried?

These are called ectopic beats and are usually quite normal. But they can indicate a chemical inbalance of some kind.

    You should avoid the following:

    Coffee
    Tea
    Chocolate
Aspartame (also known as Nutrasweet or E951)

And make sure you are drinking plenty of plain water.

But also, please talk to your doctor about this.

Can a Doctor rule out heart problems like this?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under pulse oxygen | 5 Comments »

I went to the Doctor because I have had chest pains for the past few years and I thought I’d get them seen to.

The Doc checked my blood pressure, blood oxygen, pulse, lung capacity and BMI and said they were all fine. Does this rule out heart-related problems or should they have done more tests?

    Thanks.
By the way, I am only 14. Does that make a difference?

No not in the slightest. He needs to first do a 24 hour ECG trace and then take it from there. Did he do other blood work? Having a normal pulse and BP does not exclude pathology.

Low pulse and blood pressure machine?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under blood pulse | 3 Comments »

My mother has this battery operated blood pressure machine and it says that my pulse is low.

For the past two days my pulse seemed low to me, however, this showed it to be 52bpm when ive mostly got 58-60.

    How accurate are these machines?

The best thing to do is to find your radial pulse. It is located on your wrist just above your thumb. Use your index and middle finger to feel your pulse. Count the beats for 1 minute. This is your pulse rate. A normal pulse is between 60 and 100 beats per minute. If you are a young athletic person your pulse rate can be in the 50s. There are many things that can affect the acuracy of a machine. These include the quality of the machine, the placement of the cuff on your arm or finger, or the charge of the battery.

why did a lab experiment w/ students showed an increase in pulse rate as mass increased when they exercise?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under exercise pulse | 2 Comments »

is that suppose to happen. notice i said the pulse rate was higher in larger persons after they exercised than the smaller persons. why?

Because the heart has to work extra hard to keep up with the added mass load of body weight.

What does this pulse rate mean for me fitness wise?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under pulse rate | 2 Comments »

My pulse rate is 76 per minute. I’m 14 years of age. Is this a good sign? Does it mean I’m healthy, or should I maybe exercise more?
i measured this just then =p
I’ve been sitting on this chair for about 20 mins, so I’ve been resting for a bit.

When did you measure this? There are so many variables here its not funny. You should have been resting for a while if you want to do a resting heart rate. If it is a resting heart rate. It is a bit high.

A lower rate means your heart muscle is more developed and therefore it pumps more blood in one beat and is more efficient so it needs less beats per minute. I think an average is about 60. Only you know how fit you are, But maybe you should recount if you didn’t do it properly. You should exercise for an hour a day (not continuous) at a moderate to vigorous intensity (eg. brisk walking, cycling) So if you don’t meet this, you probably need to exercise more.

    Hope that helps.

What should I expect for an elite modeling and pulse management audition?

Posted by admin on October 30th, 2009 and filed under pulse | 1 Comment »

I’ve got an audition coming up with elite modeling and pulse management coming up and I’m extremely nervous for it. Does anyone have any tips for me? PLEASE HELP ME! I’m really freaking out about this.

If you are going to an open call at Elite, expect up to 200 other girls to be there (depending on the city). You will be called into a room with 5-10 other potential models to stand in front of a panel of agents, then they will dismiss anyone who they feel is automatically not model material. If you are kept in the room, they will ask your name, have you walk back and forth across the room, possibly measure your bust, waist, hips and height, then take a Polaroid or digital picture. They will then say "thank you" or "we’ll call you if we’re interested" and you’ll be escorted out of the room.

You might be waiting in the lobby for an hour or so, but you’ll have only about 60 seconds in front of the agents. Some agents may ask why you want to model, but if it’s a crowded open call, they want to get people in and out ASAP

You really can’t do anything – at this point they are looking at your height, body type and facial features. You either have "it" or you don’t. Nothing you wear, say or do is going to change your cheekbones, height or the width of your hips
